With deeper understanding of pharmacogenomics, personalized medicine has become the strategy of the treatment of cancer and it was paied more and more attention. Especially, with the accomplishment of Human Genome Project, molecular medicine based on high-throughput experiments and new sequencing technologies is promising the development of personalized medicine. Meanwhile, many different categories of clinician and healthcare workers do clinical work associated with palliative medicine, specialist or generalist palliative care, supportive care, psychosocial-oncology and end of life care. 


PMPC 2022 provides a platform to bring together academic and clinical researchers, biotechnology, diagnostic and pharmaceutical companies, health professionals, regulatory and ethical experts, and government and regulatory authorities. We wish to engage specialties, not only those traditionally associated with personalized medicine and palliative care. This conference will promote innovative preclinical and translational scientific research and technologies related to personalized medicine, and extend the participants to doctors, nurses, other healthcare workers and researchers in medical and surgical specialties, including but not limited to cardiology, gastroenterology, geriatrics, neurology, oncology, paediatrics, primary care, psychiatry, psychology, renal medicine, respiratory medicine.


Primary full-length articles with relevance to personalized medicine and palliative care will be considered for publication. The deadline for proposals is December 31, 2021 by which all interested participants are required to submit a provisional title, full paper (4000-6000 words) and an indication of your willingness to participate. We highly encourage doctorate (PhD) and postgraduate students to present their research proposal or findings or issues in this conference with a very special registration fees.

A DNA Nanodevice Simultaneously Activating the EGFR and Integrin for Enhancing Cytoskeletal Activity and Cancer Cell Treatment

Cell-surface receptors (e.g., EGFR and integ-rin) and their interactions play determining roles in signal transduction and cytoskeletal activation, which affect cell attachment/detachment, invasion, motility, metastasis (intra-cellular), and cellcell signaling. For instance, the interactions between the EGFR and integrin (α6β4) may cause increased mechanical force and shear stress via enhanced cytoskeleton activation.  Here, we design a DNA nanodevice (DNA-ND) that can simultaneously target the EGFR and integrin receptors on the caveolae. The piconewton (pN) forces in response to the EGFRintegrin coactivation can be sensed upon the unfolding of the DNA hairpin structure on the side arm of the device via changes of the fluorescence and plasmonic signals. We find that simultaneous activation of EGFRintegrin receptors causes enhanced signal transduction, contractions of the cells, and initiation of the biochemical pathways, thus resulting in a change of the cell division and endocytosis/exocytosis processes that affect the cell proliferation/apoptosis.  The DNA-ND further enables us to visualize the cointernalization and degradation of the receptors by lysosomes, providing a novel approach toward bioimaging and mechano-pharmacology.

Genetic diversity and differentiation of the African wild rice (Oryza longistaminata chev. et roehr) in Ethiopia

Undomesticated rice species (Oryza longistaminata) which possessed AA genome as O. sativa , is native to Africa and a good candidate for widening the cultivated rice gene pool. So as to use O. longistaminata as a genetic resource in rice breeding, its level of genetic diversity and differentiation must be resolved. Thus, 57 SSR markers across the whole rice genome were used to assess the genetic diversity of 360 O. longistaminata accessions from 12 agroecologies of the Amhara and Gambella regions of Ethiopia. RADSeq based analysis on 87 early maturing O. longistaminata accessions was also done to assess genetic differentiation among the Amhara and Gambella regions of Ethiopia. In this study, the Ethiopian O. longistaminata populations showed high genetic diversity (PIC = 76.5%) with a region based genetic differentiation ( F st = 0.08). Furthermore, genetic relatedness among populations of a region was mainly laid on their geographic provenance. Hence, the high genetic diversity and region based differentiation observed in the Ethiopian O. longistaminata populations could be used as a potential genetic resource in rice improvement programs.
